Electro Acoustic Engineer

Recording Studio Designer

Antonio Rodriguez has spent most of his time in Audio Engineering and electroacoustic design. In 1983, Antonio Rodriguez built one of the very first “Time Domain Aware” / L.E.D.E. acoustically advanced control rooms in the world. At that time, LEDE was an unknown advancement in control room acoustics. Today, LEDE technology is the de facto standard for studio design. Using technology that creates a reflection-free zone at the listening area behind the console, Rodriguez was able to transform recording studio standards and create immaculate acoustic environments as a result.

First to design and construct custom quadratic root acoustic diffusion systems.

In conjunction with his role in LEDE control room development, Mr. Rodriguez was the first to design his own sound diffusion systems based on Dr. Manfred Schroeder’s formulas. Writing his own software, Rodriguez was able to customize diffusion parameters, thus exceeding commercially available performance bandwidths. He also proprietarily constructed ultra wide range “Quadratic Root Diffusion”/ QRD acoustic panels for one of his recording studios, “Future Audio.”

As the The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America states, “The Schroeder diffusors are reflection gratings based on his number theoretic considerations that suppress the specular reflections while distributing scattered sound into all different directions.” This is where Rodriguez’s concept stemmed from and what made it so intrinsically advanced.

Designed and Installed Time Aligned Sound Reinforcement Speaker Systems.

In 1989, Mr. Rodriguez was one out of only about one hundred individuals which utilized Energy Time Frequency test equipment in the world. He was also the first to sell “Time Aligned” sound reinforcement systems in Texas.

For the first time, sound was able to be measured in 3 dimensions. This, along with the implementation of micro delays, allowed maximum speech intelligibility in acoustically-challenging auditoriums. One of the auditorium speaker systems Mr. Rodriguez helped to design and install was located at Calvary Church in Ft. Worth, Texas. This technology remains the state of the art standard in sound reinforcement design to this day.
